Mit OS X 10.7 Lion ist es inzwischen möglich die normale Endbenutzer Version in eine Virtuelle Maschine zu installieren. 10.6 hatte das nicht erlaubt und Virtualisierungslösungen musste die Installation unterbinden. Es ist jedoch möglich mit einem Trick 10.6 User doch zu installieren, sofern eine 10.6 Client (http://dupn.de/7q) sowie 10.6 Server (http://dupn.de/7r) DVD zu Hand liegt.

Wir zeigen euch heute wie dieser Trick mit der Virtualisierungslösung unserer Wahl, Parallels Desktop 7 (http://www.parallels.com), funktioniert.

Disclaimer: Da die Apple 10.6 EULA die Installation verbietet, müssen wir euch davon abraten diese Installation auszuführen. Solltet ihr 10.6 trotzdem installieren, passiert dies auf eure eigene Verantwortung. Als technische Machbarkeitsstudie bieten wir euch trotzdem diese Anleitung an.

Sicherheitshalber legen wir euch auch unsere Anleitung in geschriebener Form bei, da Videos ausdrucken meist so viel Papier braucht

Installation von Mac OS X 10.6.8 Client auf einem PD7 Client

Sie benötigen einen Snow Leopard Server und Snow Leopard Client-DVD-Image-Datei, sowie PD7.

• Starten Sie PD 7 und klicken Sie auf “Ablage> Neu…” in der Menüleiste, um eine neue virtuelle Maschine zu installieren.
• Wählen Sie “Windows von DVD oder Imagedatei installieren”
• Wählen Sie als CD/DVD ihre Mac OS X Server-Installationimage aus
• Richten Sie einen Namen für die virtuelle Maschine ein und haken sie die Checkbox “benutzerdefinierte Einstellungen”
• Im Konfiguration-Fenster klicken Sie Hardware. Dort fügen Sie ein weiteres virtuelles CD/DVD-Laufwerk hinzu, indem Sie auf ‘+’ drücken und “CD / DVD” auswählen
• Diesem ordnen Sie das Standard (client) Snow Leopard Installationsimage zu (CD / DVD 2) und ändern Sie deb ‘Ort’ von ‘SATA 0:0 “auf” SATA 0:1 “
• bei der Einstellung ‘CD/DVD 1′ weisen Sie diesem Laufwerk das Snow Leopard Server Installationimage zu.
• Schließen Sie das Fenster Einstellungen
• Starten Sie die virtuellen Maschine. Gehen Sie durch die Snow Leopard Server-Installation bis zu dem Punkt, wo Sie Festplatte auswählen können, bevor die eigentliche Installation beginnt.
• In der Menüleiste finden sie ‘Dienstprogramme’ darin öffnen Sie das Terminal: Hier geben sie folgende Befehle ein
• cd ‘/Volumes/Mac OS X Install DVD/System/Installation/Packages’
• installer -verbose -pkg OSInstall.mpkg -tgt /Volumes/Macintosh HD’
• Installation wird ohne GUI nur im Terminal ausgeführt
• Nach Abschluss der Installation geben sie im Terminal ein:
• touch ‘/Volumes/Macintosh HD/System/Library/CoreServices/ServerVersion.plist’
• shutdown -h now

Danach wird Snow Leopard 10.6.0 Client in der VM booten, allerdings ohne die Möglichkeit Software-Updates installieren zu können.

• Um 10.6.0 aktualisieren zu können, entfernen Sie im Ordner ‘/Volumes/Macintosh HD/System/Library/CoreServices/ die Datei ‘ServerVersion.plist’ wieder, zum Beispiel durch Verwendung der Finder.app. Jetzt sind Sie in der Lage das Mac OS X “Software Update” durchzuführen.
• Nach dem Update wird OSX neugestartet
• Allerdings wird OSX jetzt nicht neu starten.
• Hierzu müssen Sie Mac OS X von der Snow Leopard Server-Installationsimage starten
• Klicken Sie auf “Menüleiste> Virtuelle Machine> Konfigurieren…’. Wählen Sie ‘Hardware > Boot Sequenz “und wählen die Möglichkeit ‘Boot-Gerät beim Start’ zu wählen.
• Wählen Sie als CD/DVD 1 das Sie Mac OS X 10.6. Server-Image.
• Schließen Sie Fenster und starten Sie Ihre PD7 virtuelle Maschine. Während der Boot Sequenz drücken sie ‘ESC’ um ihr Mac OS X 10.6 Server Installationsimage (angezeigt als CD/DVD) als Boot-Gerät zu wählen

Wenn Sie wieder im Installationsmenü sind folgen sie den Schritten bis zur Auswahl der Installation HD, hier öffnen Sie, wie bereits zu beginn der Installation das Terminal und führen:

• touch ‘/Volumes/Macintosh HD/System/Library/CoreServices/ServerVersion.plist’
• shutdown -h now

Nach diesem Neustart (können Sie die Snow Leopard Server-Installationsimage als CD/DVD entfernen sowie die Option ‘Boot-Gerät bei Neustart wählen’ deaktivieren) haben Sie eine funktionsfähige virtuelle Maschine auf welcher Mac OS X 10.6.8 Client läuft.

Wenn Sie noch weitere Updates installieren möchten (z.B. installieren Rosetta), müssen Sie die Schritte ab dem vorletzten Absatz wiederholen.

How to install Mac OS X 10.6.8 as a PD7 client:

• You need a Snow Leopard Server and Snow Leopard Client DVD image file and PD7.
• Start PD 7 and click ‘File > New…’ in menubar to create a new virtual machine.
• Choose ‘Install Windows from DVD or image file’
• Select your Mac OS X Server Install image as CD/DVD to install from
• Set up a Name for your virtual machine and check ‘customized settings’
• In the configuration window, click on Hardware. Add another virtual CD/DVD drive by clicking ‘+’ and selecting ‘CD/DVD”
• Assign the standard Snow Leopard installation image to it (CD/DVD 2) and change its ‘Location’ from ‘SATA 0:0′ to ‘SATA 0:1′
• Click on CD/DVD 1 and assign the Snow Leopard Server installation image to it.
• Close the Settings window
• Start the virtual machine. Go through the Snow Leopard Server installation until the point where you chose the hard disk it should be installed to.
• Go to the Utilities menu and open Terminal:
• There type cd ‘/Volumes/Mac OS X Install DVD/System/Installation/Packages’
• installer -verbose -pkg OSInstall.mpkg -tgt ‘/Volumes/Macintosh HD’
• Installation will begin without GUI just in the terminal
• After installation finished: enter in console
• touch ‘/Volumes/Macintosh HD/System/Library/CoreServices/ServerVersion.plist’
• shutdown -h now

Afterwards Snow Leopard will already boot in the VM, but you won’t receive any software updates, so up to now your VM is in 10.6.0 state.

• To update, remove /Volumes/Macintosh HD/System/Library/CoreServices/ServerVersion.plist again inside OSX, for example by using Finder.app. Now you’ll be able to run ‘Software Update’, confirm all updates and reboot OSX.
• OSX won’t reboot now.
• Map the Snow Leopard Server Installation DVD image again and boot through it
• Click ‘Menubar > Virtual Machine > Configure…’. Select ‘Hardware > Boot Order’ and check select boot Device.
• Select CD/DVD 1 again and choose Mac OS X 10.6. Server installation image.
• Close Settings window and start your PD7 virtual machine, during its boot process type ‘ESC’ to choose your Mac OS X 10.6 Server installation image as Boot Device

When you are in the installation process again at the stage of choosing the installation HD, open the terminal again and execute:

• touch ‘/Volumes/Macintosh HD/System/Library/CoreServices/ServerVersion.plist’
• shutdown -h now

After a last reboot (you can unmap Snow Leopard Server Installation DVD image or uncheck “Select boot device on startup” option) and you’ll have a functional virtual machine running 10.6.8.

If you require to install any additional updates afterwards (to install Rosetta e.g.) you need to redo the steps after you booted into 10.6.0 again to do so.

Fotos schnell zu bearbeiten und zu verschönern oder verfremden ist ja auf Smartphones an der Tagesordnung.
